Shades of Grey

Shades of Grey

A Poem by Nicholas Antonio Young
"

A dark one.

"
Have i taken all i need?
Does this life hold nothing new for me?
Today comes wearing yesterday's face
All of it in order, yet all out of place

Everything looks the same
Once brilliant colors have died
Now only shades of grey remain
Fog clouds my once clear minds eye

It all feels like an illusion
A repetitive life simulation
If i destroyed the world, would it cease to be?
Or would it hold something new for me?

Everything looks the same
Once brilliant colors have died
Now only shades of grey remain
Fog clouds my once clear mind's eye

Please bring me back to life
I ask of you, make the colors come to light
I beg of you, rid me of this inner strife
I hear no answer, and wonder...

If i take this knife
Would i come back to life?

I don't usually write anything dark unless it contains some positive aspect of an ending. But sometimes we get in those moods and just have to get it out :)

Dark pieces are often easier for me to write... Although they don't necessarily reflect my mood... They're just easier.

Although nothing spectacular I did like your phrasing. The flow was pretty good as well..... Some of the lines remind me of some songs though.

It was a nice change from my usual vagueness.
There was no need to ponder a second layer slid beneath the first sheet.
Brutally honest.

The ending; a question.
I wouldn't know.
I have not the courage to find out for myself.
It is senseless taking ones life.

Great write~
Dark or not.

So wistful and down-hearted, yet I also find it a bit beautiful. It has a reflective sense to it, seeming not so much of 'dark' as it does 'somber'. Very well penned. Thank you.

This was a beautifully written write. I agree with you. Sometimes the world is just grey because we always follow the same cycle. I enjoyed this write. Thanks for sharing.
