Night Walker

Night Walker

A Poem by Nicholas Antonio Young
"

Second song I wrote. I felt pretty good about this one.

"
It's eyes black as a starless midnight
It's body grey as a savage storm brewing
It's face is death before my very sight
How will I escape this monstrosity before me?
For fear is its weapon, and night it's refuge.

It comes in darkness
It comes in lies
Its form is merciless
With only hatred in its eyes

I try to run
But it holds me motionless
For it wants my blood
And will not leave without it
"This is the end", I tell myself
As it moves in for the kill

It comes in darkness
It comes in lies
It's form is merciless
with only hatred in its eyes

In that moment, time ceased
And a voice said to me
"Inside you is a fierce light
Strong enough to set ablaze the blackest night
Do not run, stay and fight"

And then I looked the creature straight in the eyes
With a truth to pierce the darkest lies
I am courage, your worst enemy
I will destroy you, you cannot take me

With this single phrase said
It let out a foul scream
And a burning brightness overtook it
For only an illusion of fear, was it's hold on me

Just a visual representation of how much fear can cast a hold on people, as well as something that is personal to me.

I love it! And your right about how fear can take control over someone. It just smashes you and makes you feel totally helpless...
I love the darkness in this. And nice message too! Fear can be broken if the person has that strength to keep fighting and not give in to the temptation of well.. being in that state of hell in a nightmare...
Great job again! I'm enjoying reading your work! Nicely done!

Once again, your imagery is spot-on. Here it creates this black, chilling figure in my mind that will haunt me for the rest of the day...

Being able to capture your readers like that is a precious gift! Great job with this piece.

Wow! This one gave me goosebumps! I have seen so many people (and have been) held back by fear. It can often rule our lives. and courage is the best way to deal with it! The world is so completely different when you don't have fear holding you back

that's amazing, i love it! , i love the emotion you put in it. (how old are you?) and i know how you feel, i try to put that same emotion in my poems but what you wrote was deep, believe or not that 'monster' seemed way too familiar...
