I'll just pretend

I'll just pretend

A Poem by Nicholas Antonio Young

Nobody else felt so perfect in my arms

I grip this pillow close to my heart

With all my heart I pretend it feels the same

While I toss and sway the realities away

Lightning crackles in the window and I pretend

I pretend the flashes are butterflies I once had in my chest

I clutch my sheets and blankets tightly in the dark

I pretend the warmth is from your smile that melted my heart

I think it’s time I close my eyes tonight…

I’ll pretend I see your face so everything feels right

I’ll tell myself you’ll be there when I wake

Just so I can have courage to rise the next day

Very well written but sad, I can understand this emotional dilemma.
I am now divorced after 15 years and I too had to fake until I make it,
stay strong, have faith, you never know what's around the
next corner, thanks for sharing and b-blessed!
