Life and DeathA Poem by Nicholas Antonio YoungThis is not quite a poem.
Life will lead us to death.
Death will lead to the unknown. Arriving at this destination is inevitable, yet we place importance on how we get there. For we cannot control our destination We cannot control our unknowing of what lies beyond our destination But we can control how we arrive at our destination. We can all choose how to greet death Be it a content and accepting smile An angry and unwilling glare Or a regretting and sorrowful frown. For we have free will. We are the travelers on the long road Yet we are also the architects who pave that road with our own hands. We are the painters who imagine and create Yet we are the canvas and the paint. When you greet Death What colors will be on the canvas of your life? What sights will your traveled road have allowed you to see? What will you be able to share with Death when the two of you finally meet? When I share what is mine, I will make death smile.
