The World That Never Was

The World That Never Was

A Poem by Nicholas Antonio Young
"

This is a poem written in first person by Roxas in the Kingdom Hearts game. I'm not sure if many of you are familiar with the story but he is a person who was born into the world with no feelings.

"

I look at the stars beyond this castle of nothing

I see billions of lanterns spread across the darkness

And I wonder, was I meant for something?

Without a heart, am I just empty, still, and lifeless?

But how do you know when one has no heart?

Am I just a blank page pretending to be art?

What if my heart is there, but deep down inside?

Something compels me to be here, all assumptions aside.

If I can't feel, why am I thinking?

If I should not exist, why do I take form?

Doesn't that mean I'm more than nothing?

Doesn't that mean I belong in this world?

If I could feel I guess I'd feel lonely.
Because I only know of thirteen others who are like me
There are only two that I call my friends.

But we're each alone, and our question never ends.

If I'm here then I must have a story

Something greater out there in store for me

Who knows? Maybe one day I will find a place

Where I can put a purpose to this face

Author's Note

Nicholas Antonio Young
Roxas was born without a heart, and no feelings. He is literally what's called a "nobody", someone who was never supposed to exist, and like all Nobodies, he wants to know why he does, and wants to know what it is to have a heart. I hope you liked it!

It is a good write..but I have question....if he is a nobody..then why does he ask? these questions would have to have a base to ask..yes? like why can't I feel? to ask that means he realizes he is missing something..a nobody wouldn't miss it because they never had it...does that make sense?

I'm very glad someone on here knew what it was about! thank you very much!
I very much enjoyed this poem. It's sad and bitter, but has an underlying sense of hope. Hope of being something good.

Beautiful poetry.
