Through Blackened Eyes

Through Blackened Eyes

A Poem by RaindropsRoses93
"

I come from a military family so I have learned about war from the time I was born. I guess that background made me compelled to write this.

"

He sees the fear in his brothers eyes
He wipes a tear from his blackened eyes
A gun in hand with a shaky arm
He is doing his duty and he means no harm
His camouflage pants can hide him from attack
But being 18 he needs the bravery he lacks
The shrapnel explodes and lands at his feet
But he wonders if war will earn the justice he seeks

A convoy explodes as his eyes close with fright
He knows they could be ambushed when day turns to night
His father is proud and his mother is scared
For the news of the death toll no one is prepared
He sees what he wants with delusional eyes
He tries to ignore the radiation of children's cries

The world falls apart and lands at his feet
He is fighting a battle he knows he won't beat
His family is at home, never at ease
In a family of war there is no one to please
He hope's he's no wrong but not one knows what’s right
For now his only option is the fight of his life

A very deep poem. I like it. Especially since you capture the horror of war so perfectly. Good job

This is really a very deep and mature piece of writing, there is a lot of depth and intensity in your words!
I loved it, it felt as it you have written not only words but your emotions here...

Very good, thank you for the read request. No one can imagine what it's like to be thrust into war at that age until it happens to you.
