Leaf

Leaf

A Poem by Rainbowco
"

Trying to understand and write metaphors. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

"

I am a leaf that trembles
Before the roar of wind
Moving this way and that way
Stripped from the anchor to circle
And, tumble with the howls
Amidst the throw-away litter
Racing down the roadway
End over end, round and round
Unaware, oblivious of danger
Skimming the sterile ground
Coming to rest in the gutter
Where all leaves end

Racing down the roadway

I think you've hit it on the head here, as far as writing in metaphor. Reading these lines, for example, I can perfectly picture an autumn leaf, as well as myself, being tossed "end over end" by life itself. The flow and phrasing have a lilt that is reminiscent of a leaf in a breeze. You've done what you set out to do, my friend!
