Gathering Dues

Gathering Dues

A Poem by Rainbowco

Let them wink in sly snideness
Laughing outright their assuredness
That I am but a story, told with some chagrin
Made of old wives tales to scare wayward children
I do not wring hands in worry that I am unbelievable
I encourage disbelief, delight to be so inconceivable
God’s believers be mocked for their foolishness
Of praying for protection from a big hoax
So deny me, turn me into a joke
When I clutch your throat
Then
I will become real for you
And spend an eternity gathering my dues

For the life of me, I cannot find the reference to it being one of his biggest lies - but I like the way this tells of that lie and how it will come back to bite us in the a*s when our dues are due.
