Fate

Fate

A Poem by Rainbowco

Round, gleaming reflections of light
Drifting soft bubbles big and bright
Bringing the child’s squeals of delight
Soon silenced as orbs burst in flight
Broken on the sharp thorns of life.

Come see the butterfly, delicate and free
Roaming about on warm gentle breeze
Lending beauty to build the child’s dream
Only to be crushed under heel it seems
No dreams allowed here without a fee.

Now older and wiser, she just waits
Heart and mind numb, without ache
Deadened emotions will not awake
Buried under an ugly world’s weight
No, life ain't no b***h it is only fate

I am not normally one to be thrown off by the language of a particular work, but compared to how well everything else came together - I just could not get this line out just right:

"No dreams allowed here without a fee."

The long and short of it simply threw me off a wee bit...
