My Life

My Life

A Poem by Nickole Aden

My entire life
has been hidden behind a shroud
of dark numbness
echoing so loud
that my thoughts are drowned out
Sometimes
I'll feel sunshine pierce through
the veil of empitness
and turn the gray sky blue
but the clouds always come back
I've taken peeks
beyond the gloomy haze
only to find waterfalls of tears
and a sorrowful gaze
begging for light
My existence
for these past sixteen years
has been full of numbness
and secret, hidden fears
of losing my last few rays of hope

I - am - in - awe! This poem rocks! It's simply divine in every way, down to the stragglers of profound perfection. AAAHHH!! My only critique, if I may be so bold, is the last line should end with "hope" and that "left" turn into "last" and be slipped into the middle of the line (before "few"). Other than that.....wow! simply wow! Well done!
