Memories

Memories

A Poem by Nickole Aden

Memories are meant to fade
not to return back
They're supposed to be beautiful and grayed
not tear-stained
They're meant to be pure
in times when we're more mature
we look back on them and smile
yet they fall apart
in our hands as we try to grasp them
Reminding us of a past broken heart
that eventually healed
Don't cling to the past
the memory, like the moment, doesn't last

This is what I'm talking about!! Strong imagery! Brilliant musicality! Rhymes in the right places! And of course juicy lines with a powerful theme! This is poetry in motion! Well freaking done!

Wow. Its well written. Especially like the last line where you compare a memory to a moment of time.

Beautifully written. I love how you explained something that we all commonly understand: a memory. But at the same time you give us a different point of view on the memory. I especially loved the last two lines, where you basically sum up the message you're trying to convey by writing:

"Don't cling to the past
the memory, like the moment, doesn't last"

Great job!
