Chapter Two-A New BeginningA Chapter by RainbowNinjaChapter Two-A New Beginning My eyes fluttered open to find myself on the cold and wet, yet oddly soft, ground. Confused I looked down at my surroundings after pushing myself into a sitting position. I was on the side of a hill, fields of frostbitten corn in the distance. There was about an inch of snow on the ground, and fat flakes continued to flutter down, clinging to my hair and eyelashes. The gentle breeze caught at my mahogany hair, whipping it away from my face and revealing my amber eyes to my surroundings. I slowly stood to my feet, my eyes still locked on the distant rolling hills. My bare feet and legs soon became numb, the pure white dress covering my pale skin offering little protection from the elements. “Thank you, Death…” I whispered. The wind carried my voice across the vacant land. A warm feeling spread across my body, and I knew he had heard me. All too soon it dispersed though, and I was left alone once more. I took a quiet step forward, uncertain of my strength. When I knew my legs would carry me to civilization, I started on my way, my footprints being the only trace I left.© 2014 RainbowNinjaAuthor's Note
