KelseyA Poem by RainbowEmeraldThis is my story.
Brought into this world
With no chance to be loved She cries in her crib And the neighbors just turn out the light As a toddler she'd wander through the house Alone Hoping mommy wouldn't come home soon Because mommy hits And mommy screams When she sees her baby brother she sees her future At 7 years old she's microwaving pancakes for him in the morning Because mom won't get out of bed And if she did get up it would be a bad morning No time to play because he's her responsibility Until she gets home from school And mom hits her with a wooden hanger because his bed isn't made And hits her And hits her Until she can't feel anymore At 11 she tried to tell The teacher asked what scares the students most She wrote "My dad drinks an 18 pack every night." Nobody listened And from then on she grew silent Even more so than she already was At 14 mom had another baby A little girl The girl dressed her and fed her and raised her Wanting to be the gaurdian for the baby that she never had And she was She rose above what she was given And she became a mom Everything they said she would become An abuser A psychopath A murderer She defied And I know I can defy the odds even more Because the past doesn't define me My daughter's future does © 2019 RainbowEmerald |
