Dedicated To The One I Love

This poem is about my son.

I thought I knew what love was
I had it all figured out
But, then I had you
And, everything changed

It's not always easy
In fact, there are days when it gets really tough
But, the days without you is when I know it's worth it
Because, without you, my days are rough

When you're here, I find myself smiling
Just to have you here makes me happy
I love going to the park with you
And, the best is reading to you and tucking you in at night

You're my life
You taught me what real love was all about
Because of you, I am always trying to be a better person
Everything I do, I do for you

The times are especially rough right now
But, when I see your face
I remember why I am fighting
It is you and your happiness that has me moving forward

My dreams for you are many
But, in the end, I know it's your life
Just as long as you're happy and succeed
I am happy

Doctor, lawyer, drummer, mechanic, athlete, or artist
It doesn't matter what you do
Just be yourself no matter what
Never be someone just to impress

Take what I teach you and then some
Academics, tact, kindness, and truth
Never be afraid to learn from others
All the people in your life can teach you much

And, above all the mess
Know that your daddy and I love you
Life isn't how I'd hoped it'd be for you
But, I know it can be wonderful if you let it

I miss you right now
But, I stay strong
I know I will see you soon
And then all will be well

It's because of you I keep moving on
Everything I accomplish now is because you make me believe
Thank you for your inspiration
And, thank you for the greatest gift of all...your love.

wow I really like this I know how you feel , I have 3 daughter and one newborn son.....I miss my 3 girls right now cause there with there father and not coming home till the summer.......but the words you exspressed in here are more powerful then life its self....you can feel the love and the dreams of how you would like things to be for him....you have a great heart and a good hand at writing thank you for sharing it i love it..
