Boy On A String

Boy On A String

A Poem by Carissa
"

It's a poem I wrote about a friend of mine....

"

A boy on a string
And, the puppetmaster is unfeeling
I see you trying to break free
Yelling and flailing your arms
But, your lines just get tangled and you fall
You need to escape
They're dragging you down
I see the pain in your eyes
Even when you smile,
I can tell you're unhappy
I go to bed each night with tears in my eyes as I pray for you
"Do this for me, do that"
"Run here and there" till you find yourself dizzy
And don't know which way you're going anymore
"Forget how you feel and do what we want"
"It's all about us and not about you"
But, I see you're about to break
You need to breath
Trapped inside a box too small for you to fit in
Losing air...
Live your life for yourself
If you continue to ignore yourself,
I fear you will lose it
I have been a culprit of ignoring your feelings
And, I see now what it's done
Others continue to stay in a state of ignorant bliss
Silently, I have been watching you fall apart
I want you to be happy
Anyone who cares about you wants that for you
Find a way out of the puppetmasters' hands
Break free
Let the lines fall away
Take control of your life
I have seen you smile a genuine smile
But, it's been so long
Let us see the smile in your eyes match the one on your face
Don't stay this way
Or, you'll forever be a boy on a string
