My Ode to Autumn

My Ode to Autumn

A Poem by Carissa

The air turns cool, winter is nearly here

Though right now is autumn's turn to shine

The leaves change color and begin to fall

It's so beautiful to watch the seasons change

God surely made a truly special place

Homecoming dances and parades

Raking of the leaves that are strewn about our lawns

Homemade cider and pumpkin flavored everything

Halloween costumes, candy, and decorations

So much to do, so much to see, and many things we can be

It is true that I prefer the warmer air

But there is still so much joy to be found here

Bonfires, cozying up underneath blankets, time to cuddle

Hot cocoa and hot meals

The smells of autumn are mouthwatering and heartwarming

Each season comes and goes before we know it

So we should find ways to enjoy each one

Make the most of this autumn season

Smile, laugh, make memories

For none of us knows when it will be our last
