Burning

Burning

A Poem by Emily Michael

My heart is burning

Because of you

My soul's on fire

For what you've done

My head is reeling

Because you suffocate my brain

With all the thoughts of you,

My heart is burning

With all the songs you've sung,

Your voice invades my head

Through the years I've kept this inside

So pleas listen when I say:

My heart is burning

Because of you

My soul's on fire

For what you've done

My head is reeling

Because you suffocate my brain

My tears are falling

Because you broke my heart in two.

However, with all memories of you,

I can't help but to love you.

The last line was great. I enjoyed this, nice freeverse. Some people can't pull it off, but you can! Very raw words... Great write!

A good poem. It's was a little hard for me to understand though. You say that you are burning inside, and it sounds like you are in agony. Yet you mention that you have memories, and that you love the person in this poem. It's like a contradiction between the agony and the love. I just feel like there should be more clarification of why you are burning from love.
