ELA IV Sonnet

ELA IV Sonnet

A Poem by Emily Michael
"

a sonnet that I had to write in English 4

"

I feel my heart flutter with ease and light.

Shall I be committed in love again?

I cannot commit without a fright.

Though something tells me to not constrain.

Now I let my heart fly free and open.

He must accept my eternal love for him,

A part of me is willin’ and hopin’.

The thought of him sings me a joyous hymn.

But how he shuns me when I reveal myself.

He throws me out like I’m some kind of toy,

Sitting for many years upon a shelf.

Shattering any hope I had for joy.

He sits alone inside his house for now.

But I love him more than my heart allows.
