Guy Meets Girl (Only Not Really)

Guy Meets Girl (Only Not Really)

A Poem by Chris T.

She let her feet carry her away
Thirty days ago
and he searched for the rights words to say
but she’ll never know
Invisible penned words asking her to stay
Refused to reveal themselves to her

Her smiles still lingers warmly in the air
but with a fading glow
Surfacing fears as the ember grows cold
Leaving him with nothing to show
Leaving him with nothing to hold onto

He’s been buying scratch-off cards
Playing into games of chance
Realizing winning is just too hard
He sits on his failure quietly
While watching winners collect on her
The chords to her song sound off key
but he’ll strum away
Lyrics with meaning are off beat
but he’ll find a way to sing them to her
Someday he says
 someday.

Guy meeting girl is a fantastic tale
and they fall in love
Only not really because
Reality rarely does pan out that way.

I really like this - a more realistic view on a classic tale.

The first and third stanzas are my favourite but the whole piece is well written!
great work - love it :)
