Forsaken Lighthouse

Forsaken Lighthouse

A Poem by Chris T.
"

This one was a lot of fun to write.

"

Oh forsaken lighthouse!
With your fading beams,
Send off my soul politely
into the cold black sea.
Oh forsaken lighthouse!
Be strong this fateful night!
The wailing need your guidance,
So shine your light so bright.
Oh forsaken lighthouse!
your glow is all we know,
upon sinking ethereal boats,
saving us from the dark below.
Oh forsaken lighthouse!
We’re lost within these waves.
The only dock to greet us
will be at the end of days.
Oh forsaken lighthouse!
The future’s growing grim.
Although our families forget us,
Don’t let your light turn dim.
Oh forsaken lighthouse!
Guide us through this despair.
We await our Captain’s orders,
to guide us safely through your lair
Oh forsaken lighthouse!
The day is soon to break.
We will cast off back out to sea
and rest eternally in its calm wake.
So oh forsaken lighthouse
Which knows our plight so well.
Please keep guiding us to your beacon
Please keep guiding us out of Hell.

Author's Note

Chris T.
I feel like sometimes a rhyme scheme can hold a story/message back, so I tried hard not to let the scheme inhibit me. Does it seem anywhere it felt forced/awkward with the rhyming?
