castles

castles

A Chapter by PianoandPage

the intricate brickwork of your castle

your keep

keep away

keep running

it’s familiar.

defenses left standing – stranded in the islands of your eyes.

sentinels never relieved or released as hot joyous tears

tearing down your cheeks.

the watch fires burn in your fortress

your battlements

meant to battle

bottled up emotions

i know how that can choke you to apathy.

it’s easier to become passive and dig in for a siege

than it is to rush honor and bloody your beliefs and

would it be cliché to say that i can relate?

the plate mail chinks cheerfully

but would it kill you to discard your past-beaten armor?

    amore?

it’s hard to love you when a mirror coats your heart.

I'm finding something to love in each of "the blue notebook"'s poems. Sometimes a line really stands out to reveal the wonders of the writer to come. "it's hard to love you when a mirror coats your heart" is one such. Thank you for being unselfish, unself-conscious enough to share these delightful poems.

Emily Dickinson said 'we play at paste til qualified for pearl'

I say, we play with words until we gain enough of understanding to deal with the really big stuff.

it's hard to love you when a mirror coats your heart.

Really like this line. Like the whole piece. The castle is perhaps a little cliche but you use the metaphor distincively well and your descriptions take it to a new level.

I also experience this, right now, with someone. Well done and a skilled use of language, and a motif with some psychological apprehension - that copes with me! loved it.
