Parental Cut

Parental Cut

A Poem by PianoandPage
"

the comfort we find in the family we make when the we face the pain from a family we inherited

"

today i realized how deep the past can cut
skin-colored bandages ripped just slow
enough to really hurt
a million excuses streaming by as memories
dissembled into the usual symptoms

pinhole throat
racecar heart
roadkill eyes
empty conversation
and she deserves my sympathies

in these moments
yin and yang we curl tightly
to each other's
next breath
digging flesh for pockets of peace

and maybe a little change.

I was sent here by Shawn (Haruki now lol) - and knew I could count on her suggestion for good poetics - brilliantly descriptive - painful at times (pinhole throat!) - the past can indeed cut deep - through mind and matter! nice!

My god, ragtag! (no pun intended)
This pierces the flesh with such precise familiarity. Family... peanut butter stuck to the roof of your mouth. Hard to swallow sometimes, but they come with their benefits as well. So many phrases I want to wrap around me like ribbons of silk.
"skin-colored bandages, pinhole throat, digging flesh for pockets of peace"
I could quote the entire thing, but hey, I'm trying to be professional about this.
This is a favorite, my love. I knew your suggestion wouldn't disappoint.
