The world is evil, eviler are men

The world is evil, eviler are men

A Poem by Ragini
"

An animal lover's appeal to the world.

"

Deep within the forest, the cub wanders,

Searching for a sanctuary, searching for his mother.

He shivers in the cold, trembles in the dark,

Stumbles through paths of thorn and dust.

He longs for Mommy, he cannot fathom why

She doesn't come and hold him tight.

He’s terrified of the dark, his Mommy knows that.

Then why, oh why, is she not by his side?

He doesn't like the wolf, howling in the distance,

Doesn't like the water, making sounds so eerie.

He hates the forest, but it wouldn't matter,

If only Mommy would come and lick him.

Little does he know, that she is no more

The only memory of her, in a mansion,

Carpeting the floor.

Once a Queen, she is now a showpiece,

Aliens walking over her, without even knowing,

All she ever wanted was to protect her child,

Alas! Her dying wish could not be satisfied.

All he remembers is a bang and a leap,

And then strangers taking her away, down the creek.

He searches and searches and searches,

Not knowing that what once was will never be.

He’s only a baby, but yet he understands,

The world is evil, eviler are men.

Left all alone, in this dark hell,

He finally finds comfort,

After starving to death.

*snatches writing and runs off with it* This is fantastic!! The language is simple, not too flowery, but weilded so well that it becomes extremely pwerful. The message given out is commendable as well, attention grabbing. Which is really necessary for this issue. The perspective of the young cub is heartbreaking, but only makes the issue more hard hitting. :)

I am almost in tears... relating how the cub feels to how we would feel if our mother was taken away from us is simply an amazing way of handling this issue. I loved your poem. Seriously, amazing job!! It is sad that the cub has to die in the end... but i loved the way you have voiced this issue!! Innocent and yet grave.. :)

This is good Ragini, really good. The second verse is just amazing, the message delivered is very direct and strong. Maybe someday humans will start respecting other life forms too...
Thanks for sharing this wonderful poetry...:)

I love animals too. A lot. And, thank you. :)
Oh wow. Well my heart just shattered into little pieces. I agree with Anuradha, the language is simple but that makes this even more powerful. The line about the Queen now rendered merely a showpiece was particularly moving to me. People can be cruel. I'm not sure if "eviler" is a word myself, but even so I think it adds to the poem, and the naive, child-like perspective, to leave the word in. This is really well written.
