CagedA Poem by Petals & Pearls
Alone beneath a darkened veil
I lay down and cry Because my wings are clipped and I am caged But I was born to fly I pass the time and release myself Through reading books and dreams But all of this means little Still the days grow dark it seems For books end too soon And I cannot sleep forever All I want to do is run away Somewhere wherever If ever God should ask me Of what I want today My words would be so simple And this is what Id say Give me the strength to walk alone Take your hand and point me home But not to where I live I'll say But where I'll see my greater day Give me hope and make me wise And open up my darkened eyes And one last prayer before you go This my God you need to know Release me from my prison Release me before I die Because my wings are clipped and I am caged But I was born to fly © 2010 Petals & PearlsReviews
