Checkmate

Checkmate

A Poem by Petals & Pearls
"

For all of my sister's out there!

"
I'm not proud to be an American
There's no freedom where I sit
I just want to feed my baby
But all you see is my bare tit

This isn't the greatest Nation
I was assaulted the other day
But you didn't even listen
You just threw my case away

I've worked twice as hard for what I have
And I raised a family too
I've worked here longer than Joe Blow
But the promotion went to you

How can I sit here any longer
Without putting up a fight?
My body's not yours to sanction
It's my womb, you have no right!

You may think that we have lost
But this battle's just begun
You ain't seen nothin' yet, buddy
It's go time and you better run!

You smirk and sneer from your liars chair
But your rule will soon be over
You may think you have a winning hand
But this is chess, not poker

And the Queen goes wherever she wants!!

A beautiful writing of problems faced. Good work 👍

A rhythmic rant - well covered. The allusion to chess is quite apt.

America - a nation divided, it would seem, on issues such as gun laws and abortion. An emotive and evocative poem. I like the chess reference, and the fact that the chess queen can move almost anywhere!
