Today

What i did (in my mind) today.

Today I wished upon a star,

Today I shed a tear,

Today I asked myself, who are you?

But there was no answer to hear.

 

My eternal soul, my dying spirit,

The very fabric of my being,

Is lost beneath a rolling sea, so thick,

That no-one, even I, cannot see in.

 

I long to dive beneath the waves,

to swim with all my strength,

But weakness binds me to the shore,

Not an ounce of courage in my legs.

 

Where did the girl go?

Who was so alive and unafraid,

Can she re-suface into the world

and put right, the mess I have made?

 

I prayed to God, down on my knees,

I screamed to the sky her name,

I sat, waiting for her reply,

but still, no answer came.

 

Today I wished upon a star,

Today I shed a tear,

Today I asked myself, who are you?

But there was no answer to hear.

 

I am lost.
