A True Story

A True Story

A Chapter by Raef C. Boylan

How not to organise a co-worker’s birthday card

Bill put in a £20 note

£5 = him

£5 = me

I gave Bill £10

Bill is owed £5

I am owed £5

£5 = Danielle [to pay Bill]

£5 = Christine [to pay me]

Christine only had £4 in change

I added £1 to make it £5

We swapped the coins for a £5 note in petty cash

This £5 note should have been for me or Bill

But I put it in Kim’s card

And sealed the envelope with drool

Now I am £6 down instead of only £1

Conclusion: I am an idiot

Author's Note

Raef C. Boylan
I was getting confused by the maths so I wrote it down in language I could understand [I have dyscalculia]...and it struck me as a weird kind of poetry so I thought 'screw it', added a little more and posted.
That's another true story, just for you.

I like this, kind of cute really. Me and math has never gotten along. To this day I don't think I can even do a fraction. Math confuses me so. I know we use mathemtaics every day in life, so i guess i stay confused! I like this clever write.

This kind of thing happens to me all the time......
But I only feel like an idiot later when I need cigarettes or tortillas and have $0.
