Soapbox Expos

A Chapter by Raef C. Boylan
"

Further apologies...

"

Tupac was a poet and you don’t know it

Started out on the street

It grows with whatever you sow it

Music stinks of defeat

Same beats just repeat

The sheep they bleat

Buy into deceit

Take the receipt and throw it

Onto the ground

Ignore the bins all around

And so it

Doesn’t contribute s**t

Except more eyesores on a city

That spawns scores of bored w****s

Exposing their t*****s on the dance-floors

Saturday night’s like soft-core porn

Immunity, bouncer yawns

Impunity, society scorns

Until we’re up in the courts

There’s been a rape of some sorts

She was too drunk to know it at the time

He was too drunk to know it was a crime

And don’t think I’m letting these guys

Get off free with their slime

Undressing you with their eyes

Bulging just like their flies

Pressed up against your thighs

It is any surprise we’re heading for demise?

Big brother hypocrites

Lecture little sister for showing her tits

When cleavage is leverage for getting beverage gratis

And everyone knows this

But sis, it’s for your own protection

Bro, I won’t change my clothes

Unless you change your process of unnatural selection

And so on the degradation goes

As for my conclusion re:

Connections between the music scene

And cultural degeneration

Just listen to the lyrics of our generation

We’re not offered inspiration

I’m only second-guessing

But sex is a cheap diversion

In an era of economic depression

Everyone wants to be loved

Instead we’re just messing

And Durex just called to send its blessing

But no one else profits from false prophets

Getting rich off this bullshit

Shake it like a Polaroid picture

But the picture is dull

Blow jobs don’t solve unemployment

You can’t vent

Or spread good intent

With mouth full

Wow! This is really getting into it, I like this.
Flows well all the way through I wouldn't change it at all.

Personally? I think you can't vent with your mouth full would be a brilliant end.
