Contact Point

Contact Point

A Chapter by Raef C. Boylan

Sometimes, face-down in the mud,

strange thoughts float,

bubble-style, to the mind’s surface

where they clamber up the banks

of the consciousness stream

and dance around naked.

Thoughts like -

at one point,

this kid with the flick-knife

must have melted his elders’  hearts

with the  newborn innocence

in his eyes.

These moments

can flip your sense of humour

like a pancake heading helplessly

into the surreal;

as Adidas feet create a thudding

beat upon your skull:

misery’s own soundtrack –

so this is today’s Youth expressing itself…

[fade out]

Such thoughts are what writing is made of (bad grammar and all). You've captured society and its not so delectable youth with incredible phrasing.

' Thoughts like - at one point, this kid with the flick-knife must have melted his elders' hearts with the newborn innocence in his eyes. ' - wonderful irony - pity there's no poetic justice.

Thank you very much for sharing you wit, thoughts and words.

'a pancake heading'

that made me laugh - was it meant to?

If it was its meant to be in the poem if not i would take it out.

I enjoyed reading through this poem and if offered a good question.

What do the youth of today do to get heard?

I know my responce (I'm 16) By writing.

I read this before, but couldn't quite process it.
I got it now so don't worry.
Is it kinda like so this is how life ends
and how the youngsters are goin?
Life sucks, what can you do kinda pieces...
Because that's exactly how I felt about it.
I loved the whole "fade out" deal there,
just like a thought.
I thought it was great (fer shizz) :D

oh, as I sit her gape-mouthed trying to find words to explain how wonderful this is. How alive this is. I hope, maybe, it is sufficient to say that I am glad to meet words like this. Words only you could express so perfectly.
