Changeling

Changeling

A Poem by R. Oxley
"

regarding the various ways in which I see myself, related to creatures real and mythological.

"

I am full of ink and ambition -- squid hybrid

soft bodied, razor toothed, and hungry.

My fear fuels my pen. I hide behind this haze.

I am made of masks and mimicry -- chameleon complex

thespian, charlatan, wallflower scenery.

You’ll hardly know I’m here. You’ll hardly recognize me.

I am built of paradox and pride -- chimera queen

a conglomerate of chaos and contradictions

I am more than my sum. I am less than my ideal.
