The Bus Stop

The Bus Stop

A Poem by Mercury Rising

Children's laughter and voices
That's what I wake up to;
Children playing at a bus stop
But not one of them is you.

Each morning I used to take you
To the bus stop as a rule
And watch you hop onto the bus
Which took you off to school.

But another bus came early
One I could not take you to;
It took you home to Jesus
And how Mommy misses you!

Your playful little giggle
Has its place deep in my heart
Your face imprints my memory
Like a priceless work of art.

There's a bus stop in the future
And I know that's where you'll be
But the bus won't be for you this time
It will be for you and me.

I'll wake up that bright morning
'Tho the sound be nothing new
Hearing children's laughter and voices --
And one of them will be YOU!

Dedicated to my son, JLKJ
