What The Boy Will Never Know

What The Boy Will Never Know

A Poem by RacialRainbow

What The Boy Will Never Know

A boy walked through a woman’s house

And he stared up at the walls

He pointed at a picture that stood out from them all

“Who is she?” The young boy asked as he took a closer look

The woman smiled lightly as the insides of her shook

“That WAS my daughter, my child, my life.

She once got to become a mother, but never become a wife”

“Why? What happened to her?” The boy now pried

All the woman did was die a little more inside

“I am not quite sure... because I wasn’t there

And she was all alone. But there were so many times that I begged her to come home.”

“But she didn’t?”

“No she didn’t and now she’s gone.”

He now looked up to her

As tears fell from her eyes

The boy just grabbed her hand

Saying “Nana please don’t cry.”
