Things I'll Never SayA Poem by Rachel GraceI'll show you pretty pictures. I'll paint them with my words. I'll make you smile and laugh We'll feel free as the birds. I'll show you this perfection and tell you that it's real, Make glorious rainbows of this brokenness I feel. I'll answer all your questions with such beautiful lies. You'll never know the truth past the smiles in my eyes. You’ve said you want to know me, and the girl I am inside; but you aren't ready for the darkness, and the monsters that I hide You don't care about my story or this chaos in my head. So I'll tell you what you want to hear and leave the rest unsaid. You'll have your glossed over version and the happy girl who’s fake And I'll have my web of lies: yet another mask to make. I hope you never know the damage you've done to me. You’re always so disappointed. I just lie to make you happy You’ve never looked any closer You've missed my nights of tears, the battle scars along my wrists where I lost to all my fears. So I'll paint you pretty pictures, holding back this flood And you will never know They were written in my blood. © 2015 Rachel GraceAuthor's Note
