Come As You AreA Poem by RachelWroteItThe best kind of love I’ve ever shared Is a “Come as you are; it is what it is” kind of love. A love of “Let’s go!” And, “Not today” A love of “I can DO it!” And yet, “Can you help me?” A love of tears and laughter And cheerful chatter and silly jokes and meaningful looks And silence as warm and
comfortable as a blanket. A love of “We will make it work” And “You are not alone” And the tiny unspoken things that whisper “You belong here. You
are wanted. You are one of us.” A love where the need to take away pain is so pressing and
real That legitimate investigations into Gods and Religions and
Magic Are pursued in quiet desperation (to no fruitful ends) Because I know " we come as we are. It is what it is. A love where lives have been knit together With silver threads of joy and sorrow, With the steady, reliable presence of the other. And it’s worth it. So worth it. Each expended moment The ‘come as you are’ " “Are you ready to go?” The ‘it is what it is’ " “I can’t today…” That’s
okay, it’s okay… Kind of love. Because it’s not about what we did or where we went It’s always been about who you were And who I was And the investment is worthy " The come as you are; it is what it is; it’s okay… You’re okay. I’m okay. We’re okay. Come as you are. It is what it is. It’s worth it.
You’re worth it. Every day. Don’t forget. © 2019 RachelWroteIt |
