Mirrors

Mirrors

A Poem by Rachel_Biggs

Reflection in the mirror,

Staring back,

Hate in the eyes.

Something indefinable,

Fear perhaps.

Becoming terror.

Tremors overtake,

And weep.

For those before,

And those yet to come.

Nothing is right,

Yet everything is fine.

Scared to get used to it,

Terrified to destroy it.

Things happen,

Time passes.

It is still there,

Gnawing inside.

It is obvious to others,

Only who know well.

Cold and calculated,

Forming a plan.

Inspiration hits,

Time stops.

Petrified and shy,

Try to stumble through.

Preparation is forever,

The moment comes.

It doesn’t happen,

Too shocked,

To go through with it.

There is no reality,

It crumbles underfoot.

The rocks are slippery,

Falling,

Losing grip.

It is not gone.
