Coping

Coping

A Poem by Rachel_Biggs

Across the room,

Across the earth.

Always apart.

A world away.

Day shifts into night,

And becomes terror filled.

Within the light of the stars,

Evil is created.

Stronger than ever before,

Daytime only soothes,

Never destroys.

The moon stares,

Blank faced.

No one sees,

Choosing to ignore.

Inside the star,

A web of hate.

A shade sits spinning,

Watching the insanity grow.

It waits to release,

But it cannot stop the trickles.

Little inkblots, ruining the paper,

Crisp, clean and innocent.

Running colors.

Twisting shapes,

Changing shadows,

A range of emotions.

Leave me alone,

I can’t stand it anymore.

I must rid the star of its evil core.

Not easy,

A decision to make.

It will kill me,

Unless I kill it.

My morality is questioned,

It is destroyed.

I did it.

There is no denying it,

The proof sits before you.

But the evil is gone.

I will miss you,

But the world is balanced,

Once again.

I saved the star.

The star is gone,

In its place,

Sits the shade.
