In Between

In Between

A Poem by Rachel_Biggs

She moves restlessly,

As if she knows I’m there.

He moves cautiously,

Employing a blank empty stare,

Every time he is near.

The guiding hand,

Driving them together,

Then cruelly yanking them apart.

Two strangers,

Utterly different,

Their destinies intertwined,

By me.

They must know I am there.

How could they not?

I am with them,

Every hour of the day.

I watch everything they do.

Yet they take no notice.

Because I am just another face in the crowd.

I am no one to them,

Anymore.

How could he,

Forget our happy moments?

How could she,

Forget our secrets shared?

Cast them aside,

Like the rags of a dead leper.

Every now and again,

I move,

Trying to remind her.

Wanting to shock him.

They will remember.

I will make them notice.

But for now,

I will bide my time.

I will sit and watch them.

Waiting, plotting, scheming.
