Re-writing the Unwritten

Re-writing the Unwritten

A Poem by Rachel Renee
"

We all talk about it, but if you could, would you go back and re-write your wrongs? Even if it changed your entire life?

"

Imagine you found a way,

To show yourself the past,

Like an open story book,

Each figure like a mask,

From the time one can walk,

The heart is strong and pure,

You watch as seventeen years pass,

And soon you’re out the door,

So if you could go anywhere,

Throughout the span of your life,

To any certain point in time,

Would you change your strife?

The pain of bad friendships,

And years of family abuse,

Do you tell yourself,

Not to create that noose?

Reaching the next stage,

As isolation sets in,

Freedom’s just around the corner,

No regrets of the scars on your skin,

So knowing what you know now,

Of how your torture has made you strong,

You have the power in your hands,

Could you change your song?

Strong and independent,

No doubts to hold you back,

Your past is your story,

Some parts faded and cracked,

Watching yourself,

Relive nights on end,

Knowing the next act,

A future that won’t bend,

To take a step forward,

And a deep breath too,

Do you choose a different path?

Or keep the one that’s you?

The emotions were very powerful, and the story was very true. But occasionally the writing broke and the flow go choppy, but only two or so times. Still, very beautiful. :)
