Tattooed On The Inside Of Her Eyelids

Tattooed On The Inside Of Her Eyelids

A Poem by Rachel Renee

Black mascara coloured tears run down her cold cheeks
Blood coated scissors lay at her feet
Fresh deep pink lines cover her limbs
Shining trails of blood make their way down to the floor
SLIPKNOT blares through tiny white headphones
The lyrics echoing through her skull
The pounding of her heat becoming more annoying with each passing second
Wanting to be cut off from the world
She wraps herself in a blanket
Covering her cold pale skin, pink scars and black fingernails
Her lone body heat slowly warms her but it doesn’t last long
As the heat fades she closes her eyes
Because it’s the only way he’s there
Tattooed on the inside of her eyelids...

Author's Note

Rachel Renee
One of my earlier poems, so it's not as polished as my more recent ones.
Still, I always thought of it as a more emotional piece of mine.
