![]() Sea of MemoriesA Poem by Rachel Murray![]() This is a poem about losing everything and all you can do is remember how good it was. Like the saying, "You don't know what you have until it's gone." I hope you can understand or relate to this.![]() Drowning in a sea of memories I try to swim far away But like sirens, the past calls out to me And pulls me down beneath the waves I can't breathe but I don't fight it No one tries to pull me back to shore No one can see that I am drowning This'll be the death of me, I'm sure I'm dying, I can feel it But I swear to myself I'll survive I know, though, in my heart These memories are eating me alive I'm like a sacrifice to the past Somehow I keep refusing to move on I just wish someone could save me Cause soon enough I'll be gone Out of nowhere I see a hand reach to me Patiently waiting for me to grab hold But when I try, I realize I can't reach back There is still a chain around my soul The chain, it's like an anchor Keeping me in this sea Holding me back from tomorrow Completely destroying me Only I can do the saving Not somebody else But sadly, here's the mystery I don't want to save myself
