All We Have Is TodayA Poem by RachelFor those days when you feel like you'll never be enough. Is it still happiness when the only person who sees that smile is your reflection? When your voice just echoes across an empty room The belief of independence with the letters beginning to crumble Whispering that you’ll never be enough Not smart enough. Not pretty enough. Not good enough. Always being second in a world made up of firsts A fire who’s flame is slowly burning out Would anyone even notice the darkness? Speaking a language no one else seems to understand A song you only know the lyrics to Writing words to a story no one ever wanted to read They tell you to get back up after you fall But never offer a hand to help you up Having to swim to survive Yet only ever treading water Searching for a life raft to take me to shore But f**k, am I tired. © 2020 Rachel |
