InterNOTA Poem by RachelJust a poem about the power of technology
The leaves could change but nobody would know
Their eyes remain fixated on that movie or show No one takes the time to shake each other's hand A friend request is the same, don't you understand? We are trapped in a world that is all so virtual Unaware as time becomes full circle Is love at first sight the same on the screen? Can you fall in love with a person with a computer in between? We thrive with the idea of popularity And that is defined by Instagram likes or Twitter followers apparently We invest so much time and passion and devotion To a world where the thing to lack is emotion We are all victims under the rule of technology Yet live in a place defined by democracy No need to speak when we can just type When the answers to all questions are there with a swipe Children no longer know how to play It isn't on an App, but now that's the way Endless hours are not spent at the park But in a room with a TV or computer in the dark We try to fit in by being the same How much longer until we have the same name? The phones will get smarter and we will get dumber But we are more than an icon and phone number It's not too late to fix what has been done The battle's not over, technology has not won Just put down your phone and walk away And when you see someone, don't type, but say "hey"
