A Villanelle

Without flesh in Eden truth awaits.

Each stroke and turn forever insists;

the swim from abyss illuminates.

 

Casting off touch, I disintegrate

and rise slowly again to exist.

Spittle of lies extracted our fate

you drove it out like an exorcist.

Words bled through ink only complicate

rejected love I tried to resist.

A pelting rain sings subtle debate,

tumbling through air and darkened mist.

The swim from abyss illuminates.

 

Those dreams of you still choose to persist;

Destiny’s fork or some other twist.

So much is conveyed in those words. I especially like that the repeating line reinforces the tone and is so vivid.
