You Give them Your HeartA Poem by Rachel Joyful
They always want a reason, an explanation,
So you give them your heart and ask, “Is that enough?” But when you look at them and they shake their head, You can’t even look them in the eye, As you turn around and start to cry. And you think to yourself, how you’re running out of time, How the blood runs deep when you hit a vein. They always want a reason, an explanation, So you give them your hear... t and ask, “Is that enough?”
With your blood stained hands, you shove the clock into your chest, where your heart once did nest. And now you are questioning the tears that are on your upon face, Asking why they bother to dance openly, but never leaving a trace. They always want a reason, an explanation, So you give them your heart and ask, “Is that enough?” But the days go by oh so fast, and before you know it, you’re made of glass. The seconds on the face of the clock have gone by and now you’re out of luck. The blood seeps through without a clue, And now you’re asking “What should I do?” He hands you a rose he pulled out of the earth, His blood stained hands hard at work, the thorns cut deep when you’re running out of time. The thorns cut deep when you’re running out of time. They always want a reason, an explanation, So you give them your heart and ask, “Is that enough?” And now you question the silence with broken eyes, But oh how you try, oh how you try. You close them and force the tears to stay inside, not without a whimper getting by. You don’t know what to do anymore, The clock is ticking but you feel no more. So you close your eyes again and again, hoping, hoping, for a friend. But your blood stained hands reap the burden of fear, So you close your eyes forever, my dear. They always want a reason, an explanation, So you give them your heart and ask, “Is that enough?” And now you question the silence with broken eyes, The thorns cut deep when you’re running out of time. The thorns cut deep when you’re running out of time. © 2012 Rachel Joyful |
