Hold Her Hand

Hold Her Hand

A Poem by Rachel Joyful

Hold her hand, because she can barely stand,
and you're knocking her down with your glares,
with your heartless stares, with the words that come out of your mouth.
Hold her hand, because she can barely stand,
and her heart is breaking even in this moment,
and she cries and cries, because she's tried and tired,
but no one was ever there,
and when they were, all they ever greeted her with,
was their glares, and their heartless stares,
with the crippling words that came out of their mouths.
Hold her hand, because she can barely stand,
and the silence is getting longer,
and as the seconds go by, the silence is getting stronger.
Hold her hand, so she can stand,
so that she can breathe a sigh of relief.
Hold her hand, so she doesn't have to feel so weak,
so constantly asleep.
Hold her hand,
guide her through the darkest of nights,
the scariest parts of the fights.
Hold her hand, because she can barely stand,
and you're knocking her down with your glares,
with your heartless stares, with your ruthless words.
Don't you ever know, what she has to go through,
don't you ever stop and think, that maybe she's in pain,
that she goes through the day in vain,
that late at night, she has to fight,
just to try and sleep.
Do you ever,
did you ever,
could you ever, stop being so cruel,
so heartlessly insane,
and maybe for once, learn her name?
