StrangerA Poem by Rachael LeaFacing this person that I should know so well Knowing nothing, making tears in my eyes swell A person of passion, who gives in to all of them A dirt caked masterpiece; a translucent gem Just longing to be seen, to live a life so full Conflicting emotions, show a side that’s dull Laying out the face paints that cover up her flaws She glances at herself once more for just a pause A deep breath in, she dabs her face in war paint The flaws not as apparent, though still not a saint Minerals of many colors are applied to her eyes, Steadily drawing on her eye liner she loudly sighs, Some mascara next to make her eyes stand out And some sultry red lipstick to improve her pout. Bronzers, blush, and concealer to contour her face Not knowing herself, is her only saving grace Her head held high and her back straight; she’s ready To gain their attention, though unsure and unsteady For this girl stares at her reflection for a long while, She is so lost; she’s unsure what to do other than smile Her smile so bright no one would know it to be fake, On the inside? She screams as her soul begins to break © 2016 Rachael LeaFeatured ReviewReviews
