selfish happiness

selfish happiness

A Poem by Rachael Lea

Going about my day happy as can be

Though I am tired, I feel completely free

Working on my job and helping the kids

The internet is lagging heaven forbid

Unable to stop the smile on my face

For my brain’s frolicking in a joyful place

It’s amazing what little interactions can do

How it can turn your mood around from blue

A smile on your face is all that it takes

To make others see you’re not easy to break

And though you don’t see it others surly do

You are glowing, thus attracting them to you

A wink here, a silly line there, you are adorable

Sweet ones you must know my heart is not affordable

The price won’t come down, not even a wee little bit

But if you want to continue by all means don’t quit

The enjoyment it brings me to know I am seen

Someday to someone I will be loved like a queen

Until then though I will go about my day

Knowing no matter what, that I will be okay

This is absolutely lovely. Knowing happiness can be spread so easily. You are of course absolutely right. I used to walk to work and started smiling at people and it's amazing how that one smile is passed on, and continues through your day unknown to you. They never need an invitation and can ignore it if they want, but it might just brighten up some strangers day without you knowing how much. That is what smiles do, they offer another route that isn't available any other way.
Love it.

Thank you I am glad that you like this.
I love the content. I wish I could feel the same way. A small error: Change "A smile one" to "A smile on".

It makes me feel overwhelmed how a little smile can make someone's day....There are two types of people we find in our daily life 1)these type of people would tell about their every little problem, how bad life is going for them, how sick they are with a sad and everything lost face and 2)these type of people would always give us a smile whenever they meet us, they would say life is tough but its worth living, they will not complain about life instead they will say the positives of life....The first type of people make us feel bad for ourselves as they feel for themselves and the second type of people make us feel energized and inspired.....Another wonderful concept my frnd.....As always an amazing experience reading your work.....
