Mankind's Cost

Mankind's Cost

A Poem by Rachael Lea

Humming through her veins

The power of emotion reigns

Singing out a powerful song

Of all things right and wrong

Heart beating strong as a drum

Where is this power coming from

Her soul bared for all to see

The beauty of what it is to be free

Her thoughts forming sensational lyrics

Of the beauty found within the cynics

Blinded by the longing of good

Filled with hopes and dreams like all girls should

Such a radiant masterpiece, her soul

Hopefully it never turns to coal

For then the world would have lost

The good of mankind, her soul the cost

Beautifully penned Rachael. This is as much a reminder to yourself than the readers that we are all just people trying to be who we are meant to be and hoping that others let us be that person without interference. I love the line "Of the beauty found within the cynics", says so much more than the sum of its parts. "Such a radiant masterpiece, her soul", yes it is...and don't let anyone tell you otherwise :)

Subtly optimistic. Good rhymes, as I expected. I just can't agree to any optimism surrounding humanity. We are lost animals following blind leaders. We evolved only to return to the dirt, one day. How can I be optimistic about it ? :D
But it's good that someone is, Kudos to you !
