Neglected

Neglected

A Poem by Rachael Lea

Daddy where are you?

I need your help with this

Daddy where are you

I need a good night kiss

Daddy where have you gone

Someone called for you

Daddy where have you gone

I am unsure of what to do

Daddy I need you

Why is it you cannot see

Daddy I need you

To fill my heart with glee

Daddy you didn’t show

I practiced just for you

Daddy you didn’t show

Once again I'm feeling blue

Daddy I love you

Did I do something wrong

Daddy I love you

Why is it I do not belong

Daddy I want to thank you

For teaching me what you did

Daddy I want to thank you

For raising such a kid

Daddy I am sorry for you

I’m sorry you could not see

Daddy I am sorry for you

For what you missed is me

Very poignant. This touches the heart. I think you did this really well in writing it from the point of view of a child. Nobody wants to see a child's pain in this way and you made it sound like it is, a child's innocent thoughts. Kids are the victims they don't understand.
Thank goodness for mothers.

A heart breaking plea from child to father, who needs that guy in her life and is left, like so many kids, to feel that it is somehow their fault that it's all gone wrong and he isn't there any more, or isn't there when he is meant to be, supporting and encouraging a loving child. Beautifully captured words.

Lovely dedication to a loving father....Shows that the poet(speaker) is very much missing the company of his/her father....Sweetly conveyed the message and simply crafted work.....Great work Rachael.....
