Papers overflowing deadlines coming due Dishes stacked on the counters what should I do A panic attack striking as I look upon the chair Not a surface in this house clean and bare The bed is a tangled mess the laundry piled high I cant help but to think to myself "Oh my" My books are all disorganized the table a disaster This house looks like a war zone and strategy I must master having to think out every move before it is made In fear I might step on something and cause the lights to fade The mess is all around me as I contemplate what’s next The mess is disorienting I have become quite perplexed Taking another deep breath I see it a different way A place of love a laughter a place my children’s heads lay As I pick up the toys I find myself smiling once again I am blessed with love and memories as I ram the chair with my shin How can I freak out over something so small as a messy home When I know how we live and that love here is always shone
This was an awesome poem, the rhyming was brilliant, brang the whole poem together.
I loved the topic about something as simple as a messy room, and you made a huge awesome poem about something so small.
I really enjoyed this poem, job well done. :)

This makes me smile, I never had a perfectly clean house with young children, but I would like to think that they knew love and laughter because they weren't afraid to play with toys and make a mess from time to time.

I dont want my kids to worry about a mess because there are other things more important than a clean house. I clean when I can and my house isn't by any means a disaster but its not perfect either
Lovely one.....I think a mom may show unhappiness to the mess created by her children but on the inside she loves these little activities, it is the beauty of motherhood...Because of these little activities a house becomes a lovely place to live....Very thought provoking write.....God bless you and your children my frnd....Full ratings.....
A nice poem and I can see your kids reflecting on this when they grow up and have kids of their own. most people can relate to this poem. It tells a story from the mess to the cause of the mess and the realisation that it's only children playing, it's not really a mess anymore it's your loved ones signature.
As the ending implies; a house is a place where you keep your possessions neat and tidy, a home is where a family live together.

I wanted to remind people that yes their house may be a mess but that isn't whats important. I feel its a message all parents need to be reminded of now and again. I only hope you are right about my kids reflecting on this as they grow up. I do my best and love is what is most important. Thank you again for the kind review :)
Love this! As and ocd woman it slips my mind at times to calm down and accept the mess, because children live here. They play and laugh, wrestle on my bed, undress where they are and are guaranteed to get 5% of every meal on my floor.

I am glad that you like this thank you for your kind review.
Beautiful, and at least you have the reason of kids being kids for the mess. I started a new job on Tuesday and in three days my house looks like a Tasmanian devil's squat. :)
I do think though, that the mess you speak of would be sorely missed if it weren't there as a reminder of those messy little ones you love. Well, minus the jam smears on the walls and muddy footprints :)

You are right I would be very alone and depressed to not have that mess... even the fingerprints on the walls and muddy footprints its all a mark of proof they were here. My kids are my life. Thank you for your review.
